NOTM - March Mono Blue

This month's NOTM a week late but I just came up with the idea yesterday. I'm not super happy with this color so I may do my own polish change before my next appointment. A friend of my actually gave me this polish last year while in New York. My husband and I were our there on a business trip and we stayed with some friends since they were also working with us. Unfortunately my husband was also just getting over mono (yup mono as an adult) at the time. On her way home from work our friend stopped in a drugstore to get some stuff. Being a woman after my own heart she found herself in the beauty section looking at nail polishes and came across a color called Mono Blue so she bought it for me since it was fitting at the time.

Since I have an overlay I can usually get away with wearing any kind of polish without issues regardless of price. Unfortunately this particular polish, although pretty, caused some issues with painting. My naik tek had a difficult time getting all the lines in order. You can't see them in any of these shots because of the flash but this is one of those polishes that has just enough pearl to cause lines so if you are not careful in the application it can look sloppy instead of sleek. Of course my nail tek is a perfectionist so she spent A LOT of time trying to get this polish to look good. All in all its not bad but I just don't know how long I can have this shade of blue on my nails.

Some of you may recognize this brand from the "chop shops." I knew it looked familiar but it wasn't until my nail tek pointed it out that I truly remembered why the name looked so familiar. WAY back in teh day, as a teen when I first started getting my nails done and did go to "chop shops" this was one of the brands that a lot of them carried. Wisdome really does come with age doesn't it? When it comes to beauty maintenance QUALITY is definitely more important than QUANTITY. If you want a fun color that is dirt cheap then check this drugstore brand out, this particular bottle was only $1.69, again bought for the name more than anything else. Considering my wardrobe consists of no more than 4 colors total, I enjoy wearing obnoxious colors on my nails. :)

I was trying to hold the bottle and show the polish the way I see so many of you do on the polish sites but it just doesn't work when you have nails which is why these shots look so awkward.

Brand: Brucci (purchased at some drugstore in Manhattan)
Color: Mono Blue
Price: $1.69

  1. Love the mono story! That is a very powerful blue, but pretty. Oh and I like the first picture with nails and the bottle... it's a little less awkward than the second one... to me at least.

  2. I'm not a big fan of the blue but your nails look great in just about any color.

  4. @Shirley Yea poor D had mono for 3 months and our friend just couldn't resist giving me Mono Blue :). It is a super bright blue for me, even my dad said it looked odd to see me with blue nails. I think you're right about the pictures. I was trying to include my thumb (it gets sad that it's always left out LOL) but you're right it does look more awkward. Only 4 fingers from now on.

  5. @Anon - Its been over a week and I'm still not a fan either. A polish change may be in order soon if I have the time.

  6. @ The World's Dresser - I'm sure you can find something similar if you don't have this brand in your area. I'd check Wet N' Wild.
