Kick off your shoes with QueenB Makeup!

Today in the "Kick Off Your Shoes with..." interview series we get to know the beautifully talented QueenB from the Queen B Chronicles! I originally found QueenB last fall while perusing through different blogs and was I awe of her work. At the time I wasn't familiar with BlogTv so I just saw the stills that were posted on her blog and I will say that I was disappointed that she didn't make YT videos because I wanted to learn something from her. Fast forward to this year and add Twitter to the mix and I now get to chat with this beautiful woman daily! Not only is she super talented but she's hilariously funny and down to earth too.

ICM: At what age did you discover make-up? When did you start wearing makeup and what did you wear at first?
QB: Hmmm I think I always liked makeup. I remember enjoying the full faced outline of barbie girl faces in like "Barbie Coloring Books". Some would have these huge pictures of the Barbie cartoon mainly her face, and I would sit there drawing in different makeup to each one. lol I think around 6-7ish.

ICM: What made you really get into make-up (wearing and/or collecting)?
QB: I have always loved makeup but recently after becoming addicted to makeup tutorials (bout a year ago) I have been collecting a lot more. LoL I would say now I have more to use, such as primers, paint pots, stuff I wasn't really doing that much.

ICM: What role did or does the YT beauty community play into your love of make-up
QB: Psssh! lol Watching Youtube vids are soo addicting! I have like 98932984398 women/ men makeup tutorials I'm subbed to on youtube. I can't get tired of it.

ICM: Did you start out with drugstore makeup first? If yes what was the first brand(s) you remember using?
QB: My mom had us on Revlon when we were allowed to wear lipstick. Which was "Toast of New York" If I remember. LOL That was our first lipstick at 17. My mom was pretty strict on wearing make up. So after I was allowed I delved into MAC.

Who’s your favorite Drag Queen?
QB:
Nina Flowers from RuPaul's Drag Race... QUE LOCA! lol I loved her, she was fabulous, fresh, innovative, real & just a nice nice person. I really enjoyed watching her. She is sooo fierce! She didn't have to win.. to win if you know what I mean :)

What was the first brand of high end makeup you ever remember using?
QB: MAC.. then shortly after NARS. NARS is quite sexy :)

What are your staple items, the ones you can’t live without and have replaced at least once if not more?
QB: Staple items.. hmmm. 120 palette for sure, MAC Studio Fix face powder, NYX jumbo pencils, Zero liner from Urban Decay, NYC liquid liner, &  Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara. I love all of them and probably use those the most. I think if any girl has that, (which all are fairly cheap) they can start off with some great looks. The 120 by far has been my favorite purchase ever relating to makeup. It really has paid for itself.

ICM: Bret Michaels or Dee Snyder and why?
QB: lol Rock of LOVEEE baby!! haha I gotta go with BRET. Dee Snider has wayyy to many dead stuffed animals up in his mansion for my liking lol. I'm not animal rights activist, but my grandma & a lot of people believe dead animals in the house are bad luck. LOL creepy!! but you know grandma's :D

ICM: Any makeup or skincare tips or tricks that you’d like to share?
Q: I would like to recommend Origins Charcoal Mask, best mask ever to take off dullness, blackheads, to clean pores --->

ICM: What would you say to someone who is just getting into makeup to help him or her get started on the right foot?
Q: Wow this is hard, cause I'm still learning at makeup. I think everyone is always learning. Even the best of the best continue to learn and that's what makes us great. I suggest maybe practicing as much as possible, don't be afraid to try new things. Also don't be afraid to think outside the box or to show off looks on the street. 50% of pulling off a look is confidence :)

ICM: What do you do for a living and how does makeup play a role in that if any?
G: Right now, I own a graphic design company called "Dataroom 5" with my boyfriend, my cousin does all our html, css work. Tulio and I both have been designing for years. You can see some work here: http://www.myspace.com/dataroom5 As it ties in with makeup? hmmm I would say as a design aspect I do like my makeup like I do my designing. Flashy, fun, new, colorful, I try and play with as much color as possible. Life is to short to always be "natural" :)

ICM: If you had to label your makeup style what would you call it?
Q: "Culture" would be the name. I would like to involve all aspects of culture. Have names after different cultures, music & food related names :) Like Nacho Orange, Mamasita Red, Boom box Eyeshadow, SWV nails & Rainbow Bright Pigment lol :)

ICM: Where do you get your inspiration for looks?
Q: Man, I talk about her all the time. She's slowly coming back. But youtube's JUDE RIVERA aka www.girly-show.com. I'm sooo happy she's back from her break. I find her personality, non-egotistical, inspirational, inventive, creative, honest & smart reviewer. I just enjoy everything about her looks. I aspire to be just as inventive as her. She always always impresses me.

ICM: Was or is there a specific genre of music that influenced your makeup style?
Q: I'm such a old hip hop, funk, & r&b head. But I have a wide range of likes of music. I think if it sounds good I like it. I think it inspires me to be bold. To be able to try anything and not stay in the box. To try new things and maybe you might like it.

ICM: What is your favorite “go to” look if you have little time but don’t want to run out the door with a naked face?

Q: Best go to makeup lol well If I have like 20 minutes (I'm pretty fast with my makeup), as of lately is my Mac Hello Kitty Palettes in Too Dolly & Stylin' from Lucky Tom palette. I think MAC did their thing with the "Too Dolly" Palette. I love it!

ICM:Why did you start making live videos on BlogTv and what made you start a blog?

Q: Well I didn't have time to learn between work & how to edit (My boyfriend is now learning so he can edit for me). But I had a lot of requests from mainly posting my pictures of my "looks of the day" on Makeupgeek.com which is owned by Marlena who is Makeupgeek on Youtube. A lot of girls asked me to do vids, so I decided this would be the next best thing. I really like it, because I get a lot more interaction, & questions answered when I'm live. Plus I like giving options on what I should use for different looks. :D

ICM: Looking back, what are some things you wish someone would have told you before you jumped into the makeup addiction?
Q: hmm Always do your research first before buying. I like to out weigh reviews on things before I buy or sample the product. I find this helps me narrow down my purchases. I wish I wouldn't have listened to the hype about the MUFE HD powder lol.

ICM: What is your favorite color?
G: Blue & Green are in tie for first place lol. I loveeeeee Blues & Greens..

ICM: What is your favorite type of food or your favorite dish?
G: Mexican food is my favorite. My favorite would be from La Milpa resturant in Milpitas, CA. It is their "Tortilla Soup" mmm so delish! That and Enchiladas :D

ICM: What other hobbies do you have?
G: I like to draw & play playstation with my boyfriend. LoL I'm a girl gamer. I still have my old nintendo, now we just got a sega master system lol.

ICM: What is your favorite 80s movie?
G: Favorite 80's film.. is either, 16 Candles, Grease was late 78.. um. hmm Goonies by far probably.

ICM: What is the best brand or type of make up that will last through the “walk of  shame”?
G: hahah the only makeup that's lasts with me during "play time" lol with my honey, is usually a smokey eye lol, that way if I'm sweaty my undereye is already smokey lol.

ICM: What is your favorite online store(s) for beauty products or deals?
G: I love that it's 100% real products for cheap---> allcosmeticswholesale.com, ulta.com & cherry culture.com all great websites.

ICM: Who is your favorite comedian?
G: Favorite comedian? wow. I have a lot. Katt Willams is funny as hell, Kathy Griffin, Adam Sandler, Will Farrell.. pssh so many!! I can go on forever. I have a obsession with comedy.

ICM: Anything else you’d like to share with the readers?
G: If you follow me on twitter please don't be scared to say hello. I will respond back! I know a lot of youtube gurus tend to only talk tot a certain choosen few, I've exprienced it also. But please know with me, I enjoy hearing from you! I like to share myself with all of you, and learning things about you<3
