Review: The Brush Guard

A couple months ago while doing a thorough deep cleaning on all my brushes and decided that it was the perfect opportunity to try out my new Brush Guards. I had seen a few videos on the Brush Guards and they looked great, but as with everything else I like to do my own trial and error before I show or recommend a product myself. I only have 1 assorted pack of Brush Guards and I have like 25 brushes so I used the assorted pack on the brushes that needed it the most, specifically my 239 and 217.

In addition to trying the Brush Guards I also decided to do a mini comparison/experiment using a DIY "wrap" that I saw on a video by Jennac0re. She used tissue but I decided to try it with some paper towel. Basically I cut thin strips of a paper towel and wrapped the bristles of my other troublesome brushes that didn't get a Brush Guard.

All in all the paper towel did do a nice job of helping reshape the brushes, but the brushes that got the Brush Guards did far better overall and in the long run continued to retain their shape. My 217 lost its shape after its first washing after I purchased it and as you can imagine I was pretty disappointed. After washing and letting it dry with a Brush Guard it looked better than new AND it continued to retain its shape long after. Another thing I like about the Brush Guards is that you can use them to store your brushes as well so your brushes will always retain their shape while in the guard.

If you can't afford to spend the extra money at this time then definitely try the DIY method but I HIGHLY recommend getting at least 1 assorted pack of Brush Guards as soon as you have the extra money, especially for your problem brushes if not a few packs so that you can use them on every brush.

Rating: 5 out of 5
Price: $5.50 including tax and shipping for US orders per pack, that is a great deal!

Would I recommend? Most definitely!

(music in the video is unknown, it is from an old practice/performance CD, sorry!)

*This review as well as any others on my blog are not influenced by anyone or any company, they are strictly MY personal opinions based on trying the products myself. I do not expect everyone or anyone to agree with me. I am simply sharing information and conclusions that I have come to based on trying an individual product and I hope that somehow it helps someone else.
