Review & Swatches: Urban Decay Ink for Eyes (updated)

You may remember my First Thoughts on the new Urban Decay Fall collection post a couple weeks ago, well I finally had a chance to play around with the Ink for Eyes a bit more and I have decide that I think I love them.

In the mean time I wanted to at least post these 3 swatches for you just in case you are thinking about getting the Ink for Eyes at all since right now would be the time considering Urban Decay is running their kick ass 30% off F&F again. Regularly $22USD they are only $15.40USD with the coupon code. And really you are totally getting more that $15+ worth of product.

Out of the 3 colors I have I must say that Binge is my favorite followed by Loaded. I haven't tried Pyrotechnics yet, I just swatched it but as you can see it barely shows up on me. I had to seriously load it on to get it to show up at all. It might work better over a colored base (like NYX Milk) or on darker skin but on me it doesn't seem to be so great which is very disappointed since it looks so pretty in the container.

As I mentioned in my First Thoughts post I'm still not a fan of the little brush that it comes with although the smudger side is awesome especially when used with a creamy liner like the UD 24/7 pencil liners. Since the Ink for Eyes is so creamy I recommend a stiff angled brush if you want to accomplish a cat eye look otherwise the Mac 209 or a similar pointy paint brush style will work just fine.
As I mention in my video this liner is extremely creamy which is both a pro and a con. Its a pro because it just glides on and is easily buildable and if you mess up you can wipe it off without any pressure at all, one swipe and its gone. Its a con because with just one swipe its gone so if you have a great looking long cat eye and you accidentally rub your eye/side of face you'll lose your wing. I must say though that for as creamy as it is and as easily it come off it does last all day and does not smudge or run or smear (unless you do it yourself). Its like it has some odd magical formula that lasts but wipes right off yet doesn't smudge or smear or transfer.

I usually only wear this on my top lash line but for the sake of beauty and science you know that I always like to really test things, so one day I decided to completely line my eyes with the Binge, both top and bottom lash lines just to see how long it would last on the bottom and if it would smudge or run. Of course I always use UDPP under my eyes to make any shadow or liner last and ideally not smudge. After 10-12 hours everything was still in tact but after that it started to smudge/run/smear a bit on the bottom lash line although the top liner was still perfectly in tact. Basically it will last all day at work and through dinner but if you plan on a night out getting your dance and drink on then I suggest reapplying and setting it with some shadow.
Pigmentation on Loaded and Binge is great, unfortunately Pyrotechnics, while creamy might have too much glitter and not enough color to really go on or show up well, at least on my coloring. I do think that this might look really nice on darker skin though. I practically had to dig into it to get to to show up for the picture.

Oh and it is totally great for sensitive eyes and contact wearers, at least in my experience and you all know how important that is to me. And it doesn't burn if you accidentally get it on your eyeball. Oh and before you ask, I have not tried it on the waterline yet but I will and I'll let you know what happens.

Now on to the swatches. Remember I'm not a swatcher so I realize that the images below aren't great but its the best I could do. There will be more pictures in tomorrows post when the video is up.

Where to find: Urban Decay, Sephora
